Open Question: What are the chances of?
My dog was just sent to emergency vet because her nose swelled up quite large, vet diagnosed it as either a spider/ant/bee (insect bite)
the diagnosis so far is Anaphylactic shock and an allergic reaction, they are giving her demathol (or something cant really remember) and have already given her an antihistermine, because her gums were also pale and swollen
can anybody tell me the chances of my dog actually dying? please please please
does the average dog with these symptoms survive or do symptoms sound lethal?
thanks!
Open Question: Puffy eyes, inability to concentrate, and difficulty processing basic information after eating wheat or milk?
All my life, I have had trouble concentrating and accomplishing school-related tasks. I had been told that I had ADHD by a psychiatrist when I was little, but I have found what may be evidence against this diagnosis.
Some time last year after going without wheat or dairy products for a length of time, I found that after I ate them I became foggy-headed and felt as though my head was packed with sawdust or glue, but no headache. I became irritable, clumsy, my eyes were puffy and swollen, and my thinking became significantly impaired for several hours. I found it hard to recall information or to keep anything in my mind for more than 30 seconds before going completely blank. I have cut down drastically on wheat intake since I discovered this connection and have seen unbelievable improvements, though I know I should eliminate them completely from my diet.
Why do I experience these symptoms after eating wheat or drinking milk? Other than abstaining from consuming the aforementioned, is there any way to stop or lessen the symptoms?
Your input is greatly appreciated.
Open Question: Arachnoiditis? Does anyone have information?
Long story short: 14 years ago, in perfect health, with sudden onset of muscle fasciculations (twitching) pain in muscles and joints, difficulty emptying bladder, about 80% decline in orgasm reflex, extreme spasticity (especially in the morning, trouble swallowing and walking) and episodes of profound fatigue. When this first began, I saw neurologists who did MRI (saw no MS lesions). Rheumatologists first said I had a positive Rh factor… two year later, they said it was negative. They just keep trying to push medications at me (Neurontin and Celebrex… both are useless). I’ve even taken antidepressants and visited psychiatrists to rule out possible connections (because if a doctor can’t find the answer, he/she assumes that you are crazy). Finally, about five years ago was told I have fibromyalgia… but the symptoms just don’t fit. Fibro does not cause trouble emptying your bladder!
The closest thing I can find that matches my symptoms is arachnoiditis… but most sufferers have a history of lumbar punctures, and I do not. If anyone has had similar symptoms, or can recommend a course of action, I’d certainly appreciate it. I’ve been slowly getting worse over 14 years, and I’ve come to accept the fact that it’s permanent… but it sure would be nice to have an accurate diagnosis. Thanks in advance for your answers.
