Resolved Question: I keep having MIGRAINES, very often, What can I do?
I’m 23 yrs old, healthy weight, healthy eating, frequent exercise, no drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, or anything. But for some unexplained reason I have migraines, they started when i was only 10yrs old. The migraines would keep me in bed from morning to night, I had CT scans, MRI’s, EEG’s, blood tests, etc etc and all of them came back NORMAL.
Now, 13yrs later these evil migraines seem to get worse and worse every time. The last CT scan was 8 months ago because the headaches were very strong and it was “normal”. But last month i had to drop my college classes because I had a migraine that lasted 1 week, i was in bed all day and night, taking pain pill after pill… in a dark room, with a cold towel on my eyes and i really wanted to jump off a building because the headache was no intense.
This month I’ve had about 8 severe migraines and it’s only the 24th of June, I do not have insurance so it’s diffcult to run to the doctor and get CT’s and MRI’s everytime i get these migraines.
It’s ruining my life, i can’t study, i can’t think, i can’t exercise, i can’t do anything when these mirgaines strike… HELP. Doctors keep dismissing my symptoms as plain migraines…:(
Open Question: What is wrong with me?
I’m female, 16 years old.
Here are my symptoms:
-Excruciatingly painful headaches that can last minutes or hours. Sometimes it feels like a building pressure inside my head, sometimes if feels like someone keeps stabbing at my head with a knife. I’ve had these headaches everyday for over the past year and a half.
-I see “floaters” all the time (everyday, anyway) and sometimes they are very big.
-When I’m lying down with my eyes closed, I see bright flashing lights sometimes (usually red, blue, yellow, or white).
-A few weeks ago, I woke up and everything was fine, but about an hour later, my left eye was blurry. When I closed my right eye, I saw double out of my left eye. This lasted only 2 days.
-I’ve been spelling simple words wrong (like “goes”) and messing up writing sentences.
-I hear a ringing in my ears every few days.
-Whether I’m standing, sitting, walking, or lying down, I’ll sometimes get dizzy, and if I’m standing I need to grab onto something so I don’t fall over.
-I have been slurring some of my words recently.
-I’ve recently been feeling pressure behind my eyes.
-My whole leg(s)/arm(s) have been twitching. It doesn’t hurt but it’s very annoying because it happens many times a day.
I don’t take medicine for anything, never smoked anything, never drank alcohol. I’m not stressed out about anything.
What could be wrong?
Open Question: In your opinion is alcoholism a disease or a choice?
Research found from a Gallop poll revealed that 90% of the population surveyed believed that alcoholism is a disease. Although from my own personal research, I would say that more than 10% believe that alcoholism is a choice. Those that advocate for the “choice model” also believe that by applying the “disease mode” strips alcoholics of their choice and responsibility which causes a threat to the health of the alcoholic.
It has also been argued that alcoholism starts with choice. The choice to drink. After which, if the individual has the underlying disease, then they will continue their use of alcohol which will escalate to alcohol abuse, at which time the problem drinker gets diagnosed. Keeping in mind that diagnosis is usually only a guess. What physical signs and symptoms of alcohol dependence actually get measured? If alcoholism is a disease, then how do we know that the disease is present? One needs to consume copious amounts of alcohol (by choice) before a diagnosis can be made. It’s fair to say that one must choose to create the condition before it can be diagnosed. I sure think so…..
